On October 27th, the following positions of office will be elected, by voters of King Township:
Mayor
Ward Councillor (one per Ward, Wards 1 to 6)
English Public, French Public, English Separate and French Separate
School Board Trustees (one per Board)
The Municipal Act, Sec. 224, 225 and 226 define the roles of Council and Head of Council.
Registration for candidates for the 2014 Municipal Election opened on January 2nd, 2014, and will
remain open up to and including Friday, September 12th, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
Candidates are required to register in person, at the office of the Clerk, 2075 King Road, King City. In order to run for municipal office you must be eligible to vote in a municipality. A person is entitled to be an elector if on voting day he or she resides in the municipality, or is the owner or tenant of land, or the spouse of such owner or tenant. On the day you file your nomination you must be a Canadian citizen aged 18 or older, and qualify as a resident or non-resident elector.
The nomination fee for the position of Ward Councillor is $100.00 and $200.00 for the position of Mayor. The fee is payable at the time of filing (cash, certified cheque, money order, debit or credit).
