Transportation Master Plan

In February Council adopted the 2020 Transportation Master Plan (Plan).  A few of the key initiatives from the Plan are underway by the Township's consultant WSP.  These initiatives include the 10Yr Paving Strategy, 10Yr Active Transportation Implementation Plan and the Traffic Calming Strategy.  Below is a description of each initiative and anticipated schedule.

10Yr Paving Strategy

This strategy involves evaluating the existing conditions of most of the roadways within the Township.  This involves WSP collecting digital video recordings of and visually inspecting the roadways.  This work was begun and is anticipated to take until the end of August.  WSP will then analysis the data and prepare a criteria matrix to prioritize the road paving or repairs over the next ten (10) years.  A draft report will be prepared and presented to the public for consultations in the fall.

10Yr Active Transportation Implementation Plan

This strategy involves prioritizing the Plan's recommended active transportation improvements over the next ten (10) years. These improvements may include sidewalk upgrades and new sidewalks, multi-use pathways, off-road trails, signed on-road cycling routes and mid-block crossings. A draft report will be prepared and presented to the public for consultations in the fall.

Transportation Master Plan

About the Study:

King Township is updating its Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to guide its transportation network to the year 2031 and beyond. The plan and its vision will include strategies to improve different modes of travel including walking, cycling, transit and car. The public information centres provide residents an opportunity to comment on issues with travelling around the Township and provide input on ways to improve the multi-modal transportation network.
