​​05/12/2020 - Yoga Warrior Pose-Off​​​​

Get ready for another fantastic addition of Adina's yoga where we focus on our Warrior 1 and 2 poses in an effort to improve our balance and coordination while enhancing our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing throughout this practice.

We are all challenging YOU and your family to have a pose-off of your best Warrior 1 or 2 poses. Please share your best pose on either Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #StayKingConnected. Alternatively, you can message us your picture and we will showcase the best poses!


​Fitness & Wellness Resources

There are quite a few organizations that have stepped up to provide free, high quality fitness programming for people of all interests and abilities. Whether it is yoga, spin, Zumba or strength training, beginner or advanced, there is great content online for everyone to utilize. We have done the legwork to provide you some of the best online content to help you all progress your goals.


The YMCA has a growing library of online exercise videos for all fitness levels and fitness types. Classes include Bootcamp, Yoga, Spin, Weightlifting, Pilates and Tai Chi. There is also a variety of fun exercise classes for kids, as well as classes for active older adults. These on-demand videos are a fantastic starting point to begin getting active in the comfort of your own home.​


​Peloton is offering a 30 day free trial to their Peloton app​. This app gives you access to thousands of classes ranging from cycling, running, stretching, yoga, bootcamp, strength training and more. There are exercise libraries filled with classes that require minimal space and no equipment! ​


Sometimes when we don’t have the time or energy to exercise, our eating becomes even more essential for our overall health. ​MyFitnessPal is a fantastic online tool that allows you to search a database of over eleven million food items in order to keep a daily food diary that will help you understand your habits and get you that much closer to your goals. You can download the app on your iPhone, iPad, Android or on your computer.​

Online Healthy Recipes

​It wouldn’t be right if we gave you a tool to track your food habits without giving you some helpful tips on how to find tasty, healthy, and easy to make recipes. Instead of spending time on countless websites and searching for recipes within those websites, we have found success by very simply googling what you’re craving, prefaced by ‘healthy’.​ For example, if your family wants a taco night, simply googling ‘health​y taco recipe’ will give you countless recipes ranked by the highest reviews so that you only have to sift through a few choices to find exactly what you want.​ These recipes also give you nutritional breakdowns which can be very helpful! You can also google by any allergy restrictions such as 'gluten free healthy taco recipe'.​

​​04/29/2020 - Gentle Yoga Practice to Try at Home!​

It is important to devote time to ourselves in order to properly relax and allow our bodies to recover from the burdens that all of our day to day lives bring. We are very excited to bring forth another video with Adina that focuses on a variety of gentle yoga practices in sitting and standing positions. These videos are a great way to de-stress, improve circulation in the body, and relax. We invite you to try this video outside or have a family member join in!​

​04/09/2020 – Meditate with Us!

The Township of King is excited to collaborate with Adina from NurtureU to bring you some much needed meditation. Meditation has known benefits such helping reduce stress, control anxiety, enhance self-awarenss and improving sleep. Take twenty minutes of your routine and devote this time to yourself.​​

Always remember to make time for you.​​


​​King Fit Family Challenge

​FAMILY CHALLENGE INCOMING! We are challenging all King residents to participate in this challenge and tag us on Instagram @kingprc with the hashtag #StayKingConnected to tell us who ranked the top in your family! Alternatively, try this challenge yourself and track your results weekly to see your numbers increase over time. Take this opportunity to get a great sweat, strengthen your body, de-stress and have some fun with the family while you are doing it!

During these times, it can be difficult to get active and we need to be creative in our approaches, while having specific targets and goals in mind.

The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology recommends the following physical activity benchmarks, dependant on your age:

  • Children aged 5-11 years should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity daily. This should include: Vigorous-intensity activities (i.e. running, swimming) at least 3 days per week. Activities that strengthen muscle and bone should be done at least 3 days per week.

  • Youth aged 12-17 years should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity daily. This includes vigorous-intensity activities (i.e. running, swimming) at least 3 days per week and activities that strengthen muscle and bone at least 3 days per week.

  • Adults aged 18-64 years should accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity (i.e. moderate - biking, moderate - brisk walking, vigorous - swimming) per week, in bouts of 10 minutes or more. At least 2 days a week should be used for muscle and bone strengthening activities. The same recommendations and guidelines apply to those who are 65 years of age and up.
