Winners will be announced on World Migratory Bird Day on Oct. 12

Township of King, Ont. — King Township’s first annual bird photo contest is off the ground, inviting nature photographers and birders of all ages to capture the beauty of our avian residents before they migrate south for the winter. Whether you’re an amateur or a seasoned photographer, this is your chance to showcase the feathered friends that make King Township their home during the spring and summer months.

To enter, simply email your best bird photo to environment@king.ca. Participants will have the chance to win one of three bird-friendly prizes sponsored by Re/Max Experts The Diener Team. The King Bird Team will review all submissions and select the top five photos. These finalists will then be put to a community vote via social media to determine the top three winners. Each entrant is allowed one submission, and the contest is open to all King Township residents, regardless of age. The deadline to submit photos is Sunday, Sept. 22 at 11:59 p.m. and the winners will be announced on Oct. 12 which is World Migratory Bird Day.

King Township takes pride in being a bird-friendly community. It has earned the Bird Friendly City Certificate through Nature Canada's certification program, recognizing its commitment to creating and maintaining an environment where birds can thrive. Efforts include developing pollinator gardens, promoting healthy bird habitats and partnering with conservation areas such as Cold Creek Conservation Area and Dufferin Marsh.
