For the second consecutive year, King Township has received a national award for financial reporting. King has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for King’s annual financial report for the year ending on Dec. 31, 2022.

The report includes a report and analysis on King Township’s finances, statistical information, managers’ reports and an independent auditor’s report. Read the full report online here

The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Program was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high-quality financial reports and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports. The award recognizes excellence in government accounting and financial reporting and is said to represent a significant accomplishment by the municipality and its management.

The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.

King’s annual financial report was judged by Canadian Review Committee members to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the municipalitys financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
