Mayor Steve Pellegrini and King’s planning team met with NRU senior reporter Matt Durnan to discuss the Township of King's ThinKING Green: Sustainable Development Program in support of a sustainable, resilient and healthy community.

The program introduces new sustainability metrics and a new scoring system and replaces the Sustainable King: Green Development Standards Program (Sustainable King), which was initially endorsed by Council in 2020 and came into effect on February 1, 2021.

ThinKING Green will come into effect for all site plan development applications (multi-unit residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional) as well as draft plan of subdivision applications (residential and industrial) submitted on or after September 1, 2024.

More information can be found on the Township’s SpeaKING project page at speaking.king.ca/thinking-green.
