Property Tax
The Township sends out two tax notices per year with two installments on each notice. The interim tax notice is mailed in January with installments due in February and April. The final tax notice is mailed in June with two installments due in July and September.
- Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) Program - the Township offers two PAD plans: a Monthly Plan where payments are withdrawn on a monthly basis for ten months (two sets of five equal payments, one from February to June and one from August to December); and an Instalment Plan where payments are withdrawn on the scheduled due dates. To sign up for either program please complete the PAD Enrolment Form.
- Electronic Banking - payments can be made through your online or telephone banking. You will have to go through your banks website to set up the Township as a payee. In most cases you will look for "King Tax." The tax account number is your roll number and you will need to include all fifteen digits, but do not include the dashes (for example: 000123456780000). If you choose to pay electronically please allow five business days for the bank to process your payment.
- Bank Payment - taxes can be paid at any financial institution. Please all five business days for the bank to process your payment.
- Mail - you are able to mail in a cheque, please include your tax stub and write your roll number on your cheque. Please remember that the tax payer assumes all responsibility if a payment is delivered late.
- In person - Your tax payment can be dropped off at the municipal office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
- Post-Dated Cheques - will be accepted and processed on the date indicated on the cheque. Please make the cheque payable to the Township of King and write the roll number on the front of your cheque.
- Online Payments - taxes can be paid through our website using a credit card. Please note there is an additional 2.5% fee to use this service. To pay your taxes online click here. Please note, no credit card payments will be accepted in-person for property taxes.
The penalty charge for late payment of property taxes is 1.25% per month on the unpaid balance. The penalty is added on the first day of each and every month during which the default continues.
Complete the Application for Direction of School Support and submit it to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation at www.mpac.ca.
You can also complete the form online with MPAC.
Original tax receipts can be issued at the owner’s request. If you require an official letter or replacement tax notice there is a fee as per the Townships Fees and Charges By-Law.
If taxes are in arrears for two years the Township can begin the tax sale process.
Once you have your closing date please contact us with your closing date and forwarding address. Please note we will not change the title of a property until we receive legal confirmation from a lawyer.

Requests for tax certificates can be made online through www.king.ca Online Services, or a cheque and request can be mailed or couriered to the municipal office at 2585 King Rd. Please make cheques payable to the Township of King and allow ten business days for processing. Water account information will be included on the tax certificate if applicable.
The Township is now offering the option for e-billing for tax and water bills, to enroll for this option complete the form and submit it to serviceking@king.ca or mailing it to the Township Municipal Centre.
Water & Wastewater
Water bills are mailed out six times a year; meters are read at the end of February, April, June, August, October and December.
Water is billed six times a year; you will be notified bi-monthly the amount of your water and waste water charges and maintenance fees. Bills are based on consumption and the amount will change each billing period.

Penalty for a late water payment is 5% and it is added on the first day after the due date.
Please contact us with your closing date and forwarding address. After we receive confirmation that the property has closed we will check the water meter and issue a final bill to the end of the time you were the owner of the property. This bill will be sent to the provided forwarding address.

Payments are automatically withdrawn on the scheduled water due dates each billing period.
Yes, to withdraw at any time please complete the PAD Cancellation Form and submit it by mail or to pad@king.ca, please indicate the reason for the cancellation and the effective date. Your request must be received ten business days before the next scheduled withdrawal or your removal from the program cannot be guaranteed.
If a payment is dishonoured by your bank for any reason a service fee will be applied to your account. After the first returned payment you will receive a letter, if there is a second returned payment you will be removed from the PAD program.
