Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Lake Simcoe watershed, including the Township of King.

On behalf of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, King Fire and Emergency Services warns that significant rainfall is forecast for today, with predicted rainfall accumulations of 30 to 50 mm. Higher amounts of rainfall may occur in localized areas.

While widespread flooding is not expected, the forecasted rainfall may result in flooding of low-lying areas.  All watercourses in our area will experience higher than normal water levels and flows. As a result, local streams and rivers will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges.  Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.

This watershed conditions statement will be in effect through Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
