Shop, dine and explore ‘the heart of the village’

Township of King, Ont. Schomberg Main Street businesses are taking their stores to the sidewalk on Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the ‘Sidewalkable Saturday’ event, featuring deals from participating specialty shops and eateries. Music fans can also catch a live show in The Lions Park, where The Wave Riders will take the stage.  

A popular tourist destination, Main Street, located just south of Highway 9 and west of Highway 27, is bursting with charm and historic character. Shoppers can look forward to bargains on a wide range of products, from home décor, jewellery, and designer clothing to vintage finds, antiques and luxury gifts. Participating shops include: Vintage Peony, Conscious Find, De Rose Designs & Floral Boutique, Cottage and Crown, Schomberg Quality Meats, 66 Nails Spa, Surge Activewear and Schomberg Dental, to name a few.

After exploring the unique offerings of Main Street shops, visitors can savor a variety of culinary delights ranging from fine dining to pub food – both indoors and al fresco on outdoor patios. Participating establishments include: Historia Cantina, Chilaquiles Box Mexican Food, Leonardo’s Smokehouse and Pizzeria, The Schomberg Pub & Patio, Craft Kitchen & Beer Bar, The Grackle Coffee Company, Hollywood Pizza, Port Soiree and more.

Paint a large bee puzzle!

Stop by the Schomberg Community Hall to celebrate King Township’s designation as a Bee City. Residents and visitors of all ages can partake in a commemorative community art installation, piece by piece, painting and assembling a large bee puzzle. If you can’t make it to the Community Hall, you can also drop by the King Heritage and Cultural Centre from Tuesday to Saturday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) all July and August to design and paint your piece of the bee puzzle. Once all 250 puzzle pieces are painted, it will be assembled it to create a giant bee and installed in a public space in King.

Explore Schomberg with a self-guided tour

Experience Schomberg’s history firsthand with a self-guided tour courtesy of the King Heritage and Cultural Centre and On This Spot. The tour, starting at the fairgrounds, home to the Schomberg Agricultural Fair since the 19th century, includes free parking. Learn about the Schomberg & Aurora Railway, the Schomberg Feed Mill, the newly renovated Schomberg Community Hall and other historic landmarks as you stroll down Main Street.
