King Township is lowering its flags to half-mast on June 25 to honour the children who lost their lives at the Marieval Indian Residential School in Saskatchewan, their families, and the countless others who never returned home from residential schools across Canada.

The flags will remain at half-mast for 751 hours—equivalent to 31 days—symbolizing the lives lost at the Marieval Indian Residential School.
King’s flags had recently been lowered to honour the 215 children whose remains were discovered at the Kamloops Indian Residential School.

Our thoughts are with the Indigenous communities who are mourning these devastating losses and grappling with the ongoing effects of residential schools.
