King Township has introduced new on-street parking restrictions on Church Street in Schomberg to enhance traffic safety and ensure smoother vehicle navigation. These restrictions were approved by Council at the Sept. 9 meeting.

The decision comes in response to public concerns regarding the impact of parked vehicles on traffic flow near recently installed flexible bollards on Church Street. These bollards were put in place to manage traffic, but cars parked in their vicinity have caused issues, forcing drivers to veer into the opposite lane to bypass parked cars.

To address this, Council enacted By-law 2024-058, restricting parking on various sections of Church Street. The no-parking zones extend both north and south of the street at several key points, including intersections with Castlewood Avenue, Western Avenue and Edwards Mill Lane.

By ensuring adequate clearance around the bollards, the Township aims to maintain safe and effective movement of traffic along this critical stretch of road.
