Mobility Matters

This program is organized and facilitated by Mobility Matters, a Physiotherapy Services Company that serves Seniors across Ontario. This program is a slow-paced, low impact course specifically designed for seniors 55+ who are looking to strengthen the muscles they use in their everyday life.  Seniors also engage in light but effective exercises known to improve balance and coordination.

Hearing Assessment Clinic

Date: Monday, August 12

Time: Each session is half an hour long between 9:30am and 3:00pm.

Details: King City Seniors will host a free hearing assessment clinic with Dr. Aliak of HearCanada.  Registration is required – this is not a drop-in event. To reserve your session, please call the office at 905-833-6565.

Our Community Services department helps manage the King City Seniors' Centre in partnership with the King Senior Board. The centre’s drop-in programming schedule can be found under the 55+ programming tab listed above. All KCSC activities have a daily activity fee of $1.00 for members and $2.00 for non-members. Specialty programs will be at an additional cost. For more information, please call the Recreation Coordinator at 905-833-6557.

An annual King Senior Membership is open to all residents of King and non-residents who are aged 55 plus. By becoming a King senior member, you will have access to the following:

• A King senior membership card

• A weekly email from the board with all 55+ program information and updates

• Access to 55+ programs at King City Seniors Centre, Nobleton Arena, Schomberg Community Hall and Trisan Centre

• Programs and services at a discounted price

What Does it Cost?

Single Membership Resident - $15.00

Single Membership Non-Resident - $20.00

Two Members, same address resident - $20.00

Two Members, same address Non-Resident - $30.00

King Senior (55+) Membership Form

In an age-friendly community, the policies, services, and structures related to the physical and social environment are designed to help seniors "age actively." In other words, the community is set up to help seniors live safely, enjoy good health and stay involved. The AFC initiative focuses on 8 key domains of community life in which communities can become more age friendly.

6. Civic participation and employment
7. Communication and information
8. Community support and health services

We are now taking applications of interest for the King Age Friendly Sterring Committee, please note spots are limited. Steering committee members will be required to attend a monthly meeting (schedule is subject to change) and will assist with collecting all relevant information to develop a King AFC Action Plan. This action plan will aid in enhancing senior programs and services throughout King Township. If you are a resident, community group or business that is interested in being apart of this steering committee please send an email to seniors@king.ca with the following information:

• Name or Stakeholder Name (business, community group, etc.)
• Confirmation of 55+ (if community resident)
• Contact information, phone, and email
• Area of King you or your organization resides in
• Any past or current volunteer experience
• Any other skills and assets that you feel would be beneficial to the committee

We are anticipating the first meeting to be held in September 2024.
