The application period for Committees and Boards has closed and appointments have been made.
The application deadline was Wednesday, December 14th at 4:30 p.m.
Volunteerism and involvement with Township committees and boards is a great way for local residents to get involved and learn about key Township issues and initiatives.
Appointment to Advisory Committees, Boards and Task Forces
Committees
The purpose of Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) is to advise and assist Council in improving opportunities for persons with disabilities by promoting the implementation of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) in the Township of King. The Accessibility Advisory Committee is to act as an advisory committee to Council to advise on matters relating to access to Township programs and services for citizens of all abilities, including persons with disabilities.
Committee meetings are being held in a hybrid format being; remotely (virtually) and in-person and are NOT live-streamed.
To speak to Committee in-person, you must pre-register with the Committee Staff Liaison at 905-833-4068 or email dmoratto@king.ca no later than the 12:00 p.m. (noon) deadline on the day prior to the meeting. Provide your full name, address, telephone number and the item you wish to speak to along with a copy of your speaking notes.
To speak to Committee Virtually you must pre-register and advise whether you wish to speak by video (through a computer or app) or by phone live during the meeting by contacting the Committee Staff Liaison at 905-833-4068 or email dmoratto@king.ca by the 12:00 p.m. (noon) deadline on the day prior to the meeting. Provide your full name, address, telephone number and the item you wish to speak to along with a copy of your speaking notes. Upon receipt of your registration, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for participating. All comments addressed to Committee will form part of the public record.
The purpose of the Heritage Advisory Committee (HAC) is act as an advisory committee to advise and assist Council on matters relating to the Township of King’s heritage (pursuant to the Ontario Heritage Act) as well as to serve as a resource for the community on heritage-related matters relating to Part IV (the conservation of Properties of Cultural Interest) and Part V (heritage conservation districts) of the Ontario Heritage Act, and other such matters as the Council may specify by by-law. In addition, the mandate will include acting as a resource for citizens in matters pertaining to conservation, restoration and renovation of heritage properties. It will also work to raise awareness of the Township’s heritage in the community.
Committee meetings are being held in a hybrid format being; remotely (virtually) and in-peson and are NOT live-streamed. If you wish to participate in the meeting virtually (audio-telephone in), register by emailing mmaugeri@king.ca by 12 p.m. (noon) on the day of the meeting.
Heritage Advisory Committee Members
The Heritage Advisory Committee (HAC) consists of six (6) appointed community representatives with a special interest in heritage and one (1) member of Council, having a total composition of seven (7) members.

The Committee of Adjustment is an independent body appointed by Council, under authority granted by the Province of Ontario, to grant relief from the provisions of the Township’s Zoning By-law. The Committee of Adjustment is also empowered to grant consent for the severance of land. The committee is appointed to hear and adjudicate on applications in accordance with the Planning Act. The major criteria used to evaluate applications are contained within Section 45(1) of the Planning Act and are commonly referred to as the "four tests" of the Planning Act.
Boards
The Holland Marsh Drainage System Joint Municipal Service Board is a joint partnership with the Township of King and the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. Its mission is to maintain and manage the Holland Marsh drainage system, to plan any future development for the Holland Marsh and tackle any possible environmental issues. Eligibility for this board requires members to be residents of King who are carrying on farming practices within the Holland Marsh.

The King Township Public Library Board and its members’ duty is to provide comprehensive, effective and efficient public library service that reflects the community’s needs and builds community capacity. Public library boards are governing boards, legal corporations with the authority to make policy and to govern the Library’s affairs in compliance with the Public Libraries Act, RSO 1990, c. P.44. A critical aspect of the role is advocacy: KTPL’s Board Members promote and represent the Library to both existing and potential stakeholders, forging strong relationships that will support the strategic Vision, Mission and Values, as well as foster adherence to the principles of intellectual freedom.

The Township of King Public Library Board term runs concurrent with Council. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month. No meetings are held during the months of July and August.
