The Noise by-law prohibits and regulates certain types of noise within the Township of King. The by-law includes both general restrictions on certain types of noise as well as time-based restrictions for certain activities.
Common noise complaints include:
- Excessive amplification of music or sound
- Construction activity after 7:00 PM in a Quiet Zone/9:00 PM in a Residential Area and/or on Sundays

Under an amendment to the Municipal Act made on September 19th, 2020, municipal governments' noise by-laws cannot regulate noise related to the delivery of goods to the following destinations:
- retail business establishments;
- restaurants, including cafes and bars;
- hotels and motels; and
- goods distribution facilities.
Noise Exemptions
The Clerks Division issues exemptions to the noise by-law, that allows approved permit holders to temporarily make noise that is prohibited by the by-law in accordance with the terms and conditions of the permit.
