Nominations for King’s 2025 Volunteer Appreciation Awards open until March 9
Township of King, Ont.— Help celebrate the unsung heroes in King Township—those who make the community a better place through their tireless work and selfless actions—by nominating them for a Volunteer Appreciation Award.
Last year 10 individuals were recognized for their contributions to making King an exceptional place to live. Their areas of volunteering included youth sports, arts, charity and community events, libraries and the King Township Food Bank. Nominations for the 2025 Volunteer Recognition Awards are now open. The nomination categories for King citizens are:
- Citizen of the Year - An award given to a citizen to recognize and honour outstanding contributions to the Township.
- Special Recognition Award: Resident & Non-Resident - An award given to one or more citizens or an organization for a special contribution made to the community in whole or in part.
- Senior Citizen Award of Merit - An award given to a Senior Citizen to recognize and honour special contributions to the senior’s population.
- Lifetime Achievement - An award to recognize outstanding citizenship within the community, with many years of dedicated service and devotion to the residents of King.
- Youth Award of Merit - An award given to a younger citizen to highlight special contributions.

How to submit your nomination
Nomination forms can be submitted online at king.ca/awards. All online submissions will automatically be sent to the Township Clerk's Office.
Hardcopy versions can be submitted in-person or mailed to the Township of King at 2585 King Road, King City, L7B 1A1
The deadline to submit a nomination is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025 and the award recipients will be selected by Council.
Award recipients will be celebrated during a special, invitation-only ceremony for family and friends, to be held at the King Township Municipal Centre on Thursday, May 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The awards ceremony will come during National Volunteer Week from April 27 to May 3 and recognizes the vital role volunteers play in strengthening our community. Volunteering not only enriches the lives of those who give their time but also creates a more connected and supportive community for all.
