Dispose of your unwanted electronics during the concurrent e-waste recycling event
Township of King, Ont.— Embrace the "3 Rs" of recycling—reduce, reuse and recycle—at King Township's annual Community Yard Sale and Electronic Recycling Event, taking place on Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trisan Centre, located at 25 Dillane Drive, Schomberg.
Now that spring is here, it's the perfect time to declutter and turn your unwanted items into cash. Join us for the Community Yard Sale, where you can purchase six-foot table spaces — $15 for one, $25 for two or $35 for three (plus HST for each space). If you don’t have your own table to bring to fill your space, you can rent one for $10. Participants have the option to donate any unsold items to the Salvation Army or Diabetes Canada onsite upon the event’s completion. The Community Yard Sale is a great place for those looking for a unique item or a special find and entry is free for all patrons.
Book your spaces at king.ca/CommunityYardSale before April 25.
Electronic Recycling Event
Do you have old electronics collecting dust at home? Bring your unwanted electronics to the Community Electronic Recycling Event—taking place the same day and time as the Community Yard Sale—to ensure they are disposed of safely, recycled and kept out of landfill. The collection will take place outside the Trisan Centre and residents will be required to unload their own items. There is no cost for patrons disposing of their electronics during the event.
Items accepted include:
- Televisions, monitors, desktops, phones, printing, copying and scanning equipment
- Stereos, speakers, digital media, video game consoles, projectors, microphones, cameras and calculators
- Lighting, power tools, small appliances, stationary and portable audio/video systems
Please protect your privacy by cleaning all personal data and removing batteries from e-waste items prior to dropping them off. For more information on how to wipe your device, visit king.ca/CommunityYardSale.
Battery disposal will be available. All standard single-use batteries are accepted, including AAA, AA, D, 9V, button cell, etc. Rechargeable batteries are not currently accepted. For safety purposes, please place leaking batteries in a sealed plastic bag and cover the terminals of lithium batteries with tape before dropping them off in the bins. Almost 1,200 kgs of electronic waste was collected at last year’s event.
