King Township continues motoring forward with its 2024 Road Improvement Program, and excited to share the progress it's made in enhancing the road network for better transportation across King Township. These improvements are part of King’s commitment to addressing climate change, achieving greater fiscal responsibility and cost control and ensuring the safety of the community.
The work involves road reconstruction or rehabilitation activities such as pulverizing and paving (base and top course asphalt), localized culvert replacement, drainage improvements and roadside safety upgrades.
The following four road segments are included in the program: Rupke Road, Hodgson Avenue, 19th Sideroad (from Weston to the end of the cul-de-sac), and 16th Sideroad (from Weston to Highway 400).
The base course asphalt on these roads was placed in 2024 and the top course asphalt will be put down this year. The total cost of the contract for this work is $1.2 million.
This project is supported by the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF), which provides stable, predictable and indexed funding to communities across Canada. The CCBF allows local communities to make strategic investments in essential infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, public transit, drinking water and wastewater infrastructure and recreational facilities.
