Closure notice: The Township Municipal Centre will be closed be closed on Monday, May 20 to observe Victoria Day. ServiceKING will reopen on Tuesday, May 21 at 8:30a.m. 

Essential services, such as fire and emergency response and by-law and enforcement services, will continue uninterrupted. During the closure, calls regarding an urgent Township matter requiring immediate attention will be connected to the after-hours answering service. To access Township services and information online during the closure, visit king.ca.

Residents are also being reminded that King Township will be enforcing its fireworks bylaw over the Victoria Day weekend to ensure the safety of residents and properties.

Instead of setting off private fireworks, residents are invited to enjoy the Nobleton Victoria Day Fireworks display on Monday, May 20, at the Nobleton Arena. Spectators can find the best views by sitting in the field behind the Nobleton Arena at 15 Old King Road. The show will begin at dusk.

The day will also feature a parade at 11 a.m. and a fair with live entertainment, food, and retail vendors from noon until 4 p.m. Additionally, a midway with rides will operate from noon until 9 p.m. For more details on the events, including the parade route, visit king.ca/nobletonvictoriaday.

Those who choose to set off private fireworks must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Fireworks can only be set off between dusk and 11 p.m. on the designated days.
  • Fireworks can only be set off on Victoria Day, Canada Day and the third day of the Diwali Festival.
  • Vendors selling fireworks within King Township require a permit.
  • Fireworks cannot be set off on any public land, including parks, parking lots, or roads, due to their potential fire hazards and the disturbance they cause to pets, livestock, wild animals and people sensitive to loud noises.

Enforcement efforts will be in place over the Victoria Day weekend, with stationed officers and officers on general patrol to address any prohibited activity occurring in parks or on roads.
