King Fire and Emergency Services has been officially accredited by the Fire Underwriters Survey (FUS) to deliver Superior Tanker Shuttle Service (STSS) for another five years. This important accreditation means that the department can supply water to areas without hydrants just as effectively as areas with hydrants. Each accreditation is valid for five years and KFES has continuously earned the accreditation since 2000.

The FUS thoroughly evaluated King Fire and Emergency Services' test results and application, confirming that the department meets the high standards required for STSS accreditation. As a result, King Fire and Emergency Services has been added to the list of accredited agencies for Superior Tanker Shuttle Services, with the Canadian Fire Insurance Grading Index updated accordingly.

With this accreditation, residents in King Township who live within the qualifying distance from the responding fire station can now enjoy significant reductions in their fire insurance rates from many Canadian insurers. This puts the district on par with areas that have hydrant services. Although insurers are not required to accept this equivalency, the FUS strongly recommends that they do, recognizing the enhanced fire protection capabilities of the district.

To keep the accreditation, King Fire and Emergency Services must document their practice of the Tanker Shuttle Service and make this documentation available for review.
